The first character is Tim. He is a young boy and tries his best to be honest. He really trusts his parents, but looks up to his older brother.
The second character is Sam. He is not honest like his brother, but fights for freedom. He will not give up on what he believes in. Even for his dad.

My first character is Tim. The story is told in Tim's point of vew so he is obviously one of the main character. I think that he sounds like a loyal person with a good heart and I think he will eventually choose what he thinks is right.

My second character is Sam. Sam is Tim's older brother who tends to speak before he thinks and is quite stubborn.

The first character is Sam. Sam is very patriotic and fights for his freedom. Sam is not as honest as his younger brother Tim. For example: Sam wants to take or steal the Brown Bess for war.
The second character is Eliphalet (father). Eliphalet wants Sam to be a loyalist because he doesn't think the taxes are that bad. Eliphalet is also very passionate. For example: He pounded his fist down on the table at two points in the story.

The first character is Tim, a young boy who likes to keep the peace. He tries real hard to be honest and respectful to his father, by keeping his opinions to his self. He likes to know what’s going on, but he gets nervous if it’s a secret that may upset his father. Tim wants to be like his brother, Sam, when he grows up. He likes the stories Tim tells him about girls and telling points he has scored in a debate. He works very hard when it comes to his chores and he really hopes things will go okay for his family.

The second character is Sam, Tim’s older brother. He went to Yale and enjoys a good debate. He to fight in the war for his freedom against the British, but his father forbids it. Sam argued with his father about it and told him he couldn’t be stopped, because he was a man. Sam fears his father, but doesn’t hold his tongue often.

One character in the story is Timmy, also known as Tim. Tim has shown that he doesn’t have a say for himself. He also knows when he should keep his mouth shut especially when he witnesses some graphic arguments. He has been in the middle of some things. His father believes and agrees with the thoughts and beliefs of the loyalists. Sam, his older brother, believes and agrees with the thoughts and beliefs of the patriots. According to what is said on pages 35-37, he is trying to pick a side. I believe this fight he is having with himself will be a key part of the story.

Another character mentioned is Sam. Sam’s belief about freedom is that you need it to live your life. His very controlling father disagrees with his thoughts about freedom, which causes a lot of fighting between them. There is an example of fighting on pages 19-21. Sam is also independent and stands up for what he believes in.

The first character introduced in the book is Tim Meeker. He has a brother named Sam. Tim is one of the main characters in the book, the book is written in his point of view. Tim seems to have miniature arguments with himself in the book. On pages 34 and 37, he sees that Sam took the Brown Bess, his fathers gun. This is just one of the arguments that he gets himself into. He doesn't know if he should tell his father so that his father would be safe when he goes to sell goods from their farm, but he doesn't want Sam to be defenseless in the war either. He also has to pick a side between Sam's patriotic and rebelious side, or his father's loyalist side.

Sam Meeker, the brother of Tim Meeker, is very rebelious and doesn't listen very well. In pages 2-5, he doesn't listen to what his father is telling him at the dinner table. He also seems very passionate in the army, because he even steals the Brown Bess, on page 17. Sam will seem to do whatever it takes to keep his visions alive like on pages 17-22, where Sam and his father start yelling at each other, because Sam wants to express his side, and his father doesn't want him fighting in a war over "a few pence taxes".

On pages 36 and 37 Tim is trying to choose to be honest to his parents, or lie for his older brother Sam.

On pages 36 and 37, Sam is begging Tim to lie to their parents for him. Also on pages 20 and 21 he argues with his Dad over the gun or, "Brown Bess".

My first character is Tim's father. I fell that Tim's father is not as open to change as some of the people around him. Like in the first couple of pages he argues with Sam about the was, and later he talks to Tim about loyalty. He also seems to be a little bit of a hot head. See, when him and Tim fight it gets very heated very fast and doesn't calm down very fast.

My second character is Sam. Sam seems to be looking for a way to make both his father and Sam happy with him. Several times Tim tell's Sam he won't tell their dad about something he has done. Also with his dad he won't say what's on his mind or what he really thinks if he believes it could get his father mad.

Tim Meeker is an honest boy who is torn by war. His father is a loyalist and his older brother role model is a patriot. Tim's struggle between choosing sides is especially shown during pages 35-37. He is always talking about how much he loves Sam and how he likes to snuggle up to him in the loft and listen to him tell stories. Based on this fact, I think that he will eventually side with Sam.

Sam is our next character. Sam Meeker is a rebellious college hothead who sticks up for everything he believes in. Especially freedom. On page 17, he fights with his father about using the family rifle (Brown Bess). Being Sam, he never gave up and stole the gun instead.
